This machine places SMT based components automatically, feeding the components from loaded reels. It can place up to 20,000 components/hour - components down to size 01005 can be placed using this machine.

Solder Paste Stencils are loaded in frames into the pasting machine - as the boards pass down the line, this machine will lift the board up to the stencil, pass solder paste over the stencil and apply to the required pads on the board, before moving down the line to the Yamaha Pick and Place machine.

These cabinets are temperature and humidity controlled to store bare and assembled PCBs in. The controlled environment protects the components and the surface of the PCB

The component reels are loaded into these cartridges, the cartridges are then placed into the pick and place machines.

Trained technicians will look at each board as it passes between the pick and place machine and the reflow oven.

The boards are stacked into the feeder, from here they are auto loaded into the solder paste stencil machine.

This is one of two, full process, SMT assembly lines on site. Bare boards enter and then emerge with soldered SMT components assembled. 

SMT Assembly Line

Using the Extra Eye inspection unit, this allows our technicians to remove the first PCB from the line to confirm the positioning of all SMT components after passing through the Yamaha Pick and Place Machines, before heading through reflow. Once positioning is confirmed, the rest of the order can pass through the line, in the knowledge that everything is set up correctly. This is one of multiple inspection points throughout the assembly process at Newbury Electronics.

This machine is used for reflowing the solder paste on components that are heat sensitive and would not be able to be reflowed through the traditional reflow ovens.
